2. Work and notes from the last week

Mood on Sunday as I’m writing this, drinking coffee and watching Tottenham play Watford:

This week’s work

For DIME, I talked to Larry Nance Jr. about finding his voice in the last year by helping others. This interview was done the day before he was dealt to Portland.

At Forbes, I wrote a Kevin Love column and how he is the biggest remaining question about the Cavs’ offseason. (I also don’t believe his agent saying he has no interest in a buyout — money talks here.)

Initial write-up of the Nance-Markkanen deal

Locked on Cavs episodes:

  • Two-part live Q&A and schedule reaction

  • Talking about building with Garland and Mobley with Jackson Frank

  • Reacting to the Nance-Markkanen deal

There are some news posts over at DIME as well if you want to read up on Emoni Bates and/or Mike Budenholzer.

Worth a look

  • Currently reading Spencer Ackerman’s book Reign of Terror and learning a lot about a conflict that began when I was in second grade and is still running. (His episodes on the Cerebro podcast are also great if you’re an X-Men fan.)

  • Sally Rooney profiled in the New York Times ahead of her new book releasing in a few weeks.

  • Erling Haaland is a monster.

  • Allison Herman on the Ted Lasso discourse.

  • Ricky O’Donnell’s trade grades

  • Jesse Armstrong, creator of Succession, profiled in The New Yorker

  • Zack Meisel diving into how James Karinchak fell apart this year

  • CBS’ James Benge on what Ronaldo really offers Man United (Also: Read this on Ronaldo to go beyond the on field stuff.)

Be well.
